    Master of Arts in Global Governance

    Grégoire Baribeau was born in London, Ontario into a family that hails from western Saskatchewan. He joined the Balsillie School's Global Governance program after completing a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management at Carleton University's Kroeger College.

    Master's in International Public Policy

    Leah's main areas of interest lie in Latin American grassroots resistance movements and the impacts of Foreign Direct Investment within extractive industries on neighbouring communities.

    Warren’s research interests include international relations theory, international organizations and global regulatory politics.

  • Taguhi Dallakyan

    Joint University PhD in Global Governance

    Taguhi Dallakyan is an international development and human rights specialist with an extensive background in rights-based development, results-based project management and implementaion, including in conflict and post-conflict settings.

  • Lucie Edwards

    Joint University PhD in Global Governance

    Her last assignment in a 33 year career with DFAIT was as Chief Strategist and Head of the Office for Transformation. To mark her retirement, she was awarded the Department's Lifetime Achievement Award of Excellence for 2009. Lucie has been appointed Ashley Fellow at Trent University for the 2011-2012 academic year.

    Kevin is a self-declared 'climate-hawk' and is highly passionate about global responses to climate change, and the political economy of carbon pricing.

    Joint University PhD in Global Governance

    Crystal's broad research interests include development and the development choices emerging economies undertake to better situate themselves in the global political economy. Her regional expertise centres on the Middle East, with her dissertation work examining the governance of development and policy making within the GCC countries.

    Sean's academic interests in international relations are largely focused on how the information age will see dramatic changes in world affairs and global governance, and more specifically, how emergent technologies will alter violent conflict.

    David's research looks at the governance of global financial systems in light of the 2008 financial crisis, concentrating on the formation of the Financial Stability Board and the preference of financial regulators for networked forms of governance. This research topic will undertake an in-depth analysis of four of the key financial regulatory bodies and their evolving governance systems.

  • Leah McMillan

    Leah is assessing the extent to which a global education policy can be effective in national policy contexts. Her research focuses on the Education For All policy, in line with the Millennium Development Goals, and its relevance for national education policies in Sub-Saharan Africa. This study questions the ability for a global education policy to ensure that all children have their right to education fulfilled.

    Manjana's current research concerns the nexus between climate change, energy, and security, but she has also focused on international relations, security studies (in particular nuclear non-proliferation), leadership and global governance.

  • Stefano Pagliari

    Joint University PhD in Global Governance

    Stefano's research concentrates on the financial regulatory reforms that have been launched in response to the global financial crisis of 2007-09. It explores the political dynamics associated with the reassertion of public regulation over sectors that had been left self-regulated, and it critically evaluates the impact of this re-regulation.

    Tahnee’s current research examines polycentric governance structures in the Arctic and the possibility of scaling up their salient characteristics to similar cases in global environmental governance.

  • Veronica Rubio Vega

    Veronica's academic interests focus on the political economy of emerging markets and its implications for the reconstitution of the post-2007 global financial architecture. Her dissertation will examine ongoing debates on unconventional measures, including selective use of capital controls and reserve accumulation, taken by emerging markets' governments as policy strategies to respond to the recent financial crisis.

    Jason's research explains the emergence of an innovative transnational climate change movement that is working to leverage international financial markets in the fight to mitigate climate change. In particular, this research is tracking partnerships between financial firms and environmental groups that advocate the implementation of best-practice standards governing climate change risks and opportunities.
