  • Crystal's broad research interests include development and the development choices emerging economies undertake to better situate themselves in the global political economy. Her regional expertise centres on the Middle East, with her dissertation work examining the governance of development and policy making within the GCC countries.

Background

Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Global Governance at the University of Waterloo, Crystal has previously worked in both nonprofit and education.  Most recently, she worked in academic program planning at York University and prior to that was a research associate for the Jerusalem Old City Initiative, housed at the University of Windsor.  She has also served as a lecturer and the inaugural head of the Business Studies program at Shinas College of Technology in the Sultanate of Oman as well as worked on a CIDA-funded good governance project in Cairo, Egypt with the United Group for Democratic Development.
