  • Manjana's current research concerns the nexus between climate change, energy, and security, but she has also focused on international relations, security studies (in particular nuclear non-proliferation), leadership and global governance.

Background

Manjana was born in East Germany. She received her law degree from the University of Heidelberg and graduated with a Masters of Public Policy as McCloy Scholar from the Harvard Kennedy School. Her research at Harvard focused on international relations, security studies (in particular nuclear non-proliferation), leadership and global governance. Manjana’s current interests concern the nexus between climate change, energy, and security. Her professional experience includes international organizations (UN, European Commission), the public and non-profit sectors (German Embassy in New Delhi, Leuphana University Lüneburg) and the private sector (McKinsey and Company, Freshfields).

Why she chose the BSIA: "The Balsillie School offers a unique multidisciplinary PhD program structure, allowing me to pursue my specific research interests without the disciplinary or methodological constraints of most major International Relations programs. Further BSIA students enjoy an extraordinary level of individual support and academic supervision in a community of outstanding scholars."
