Prospective Students

Applying to The Balsillie School of International Affairs

You are invited to apply to one of the three graduate programs offered by Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) and the University of Waterloo (UW) and based at The Balsillie School, where practice and principle are never far apart. Home to experts drawn from political science, economics, history, business, geography and environment studies, the School provides students with an interdisciplinary learning environment. The School’s association with The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), an independent think tank, affords faculty and students access to individuals with outstanding records as ambassadors, policy-makers and scholars.

Emphasizing small class size and close individual contact with faculty, up to eight doctoral students are admitted each year to the joint-WLU/UW Ph.D. in Global Governance Program, and approximately 15 master’s-level students to WLU's Master’s in International Public Policy and UW's Master of Arts in Global Governance, respectively. Applications for each of the programs are typically due in mid-late January of a given year, with the first round of admissions offers normally being made in the spring.

“Globalization has developed such that new approaches to theory and practice are essential. The Balsillie School prompts the multi-disciplinary approach that I embrace in my education policy research.”
