Dr. Münür Sacit Herdem is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Adıyaman University, Turkiye, and serves as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Management Science Department at the University of Waterloo. His research spans the areas of Energy, Conceptual Design of Next-Generation Energy Conversion Systems, and Smart Energy Networks. Dr. Herdem earned his Master’s degree and Ph.D. at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur. His research during his graduate studies encompassed a variety of energy conversion technologies, such as coal gasification, fuel cells, and fuel reforming. Following his Ph.D., he pursued post-doctoral studies at the University of Waterloo and the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) under the mentorship of Dr. Jatin Nathwani and Dr. John Wen. His current endeavors aim to pioneer next-generation energy conversion systems by utilizing big data and innovative energy conversion technologies, alongside developing business models to deploy these new technologies. Dr. Herdem has built a global network throughout his academic and professional journey, collaborating with peers from over 30 countries. This experience underscores his outstanding communication skills, linguistic versatility, and adaptability to diverse cultural environments.
