Picture of Anastasia Ufimtseva

Anastasia Ufimtseva is a PhD Candidate (ABD) in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs (through Wilfrid Laurier University). She holds an MA in Political Science from the University of Waterloo and a BA (honours) in Political Science with International Relations from the University of the British Columbia. Anastasia specializes in International Political Economy and is currently writing a doctoral dissertation on Chinese financial engagement with hydrocarbon-rich countries. Her current research focuses on global energy governance, the political economy of natural resources, and international development.

Anastasia conducted field work in Russia in the fall of 2016. During her field work, she was a visiting researcher at the National Research University Higher School of Economics at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs in Moscow and at the Novosibirsk State University at the Faculty of Economics.
