Elena Christy is the Interim Project Coordinator for the Laurier Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (LCSFS). The LCSFS addresses interconnected environmental, social, and economic challenges facing the global food system and is home to FLEdGE: Food, Locally Embedded, Globally Engaged, a SSHRC funded research partnership that explores how a diverse range of community-scale food initiatives increase social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

In her role with the LCSFS, Elena supports multiple research projects in project coordination, communications and knowledge mobilization, financial administration, and reporting. Prior to joining the LCSFS, Elena worked as a design consultant, provided communications and program support to the Habitat III Secretariat in New York and Quito, Ecuador, and oversaw the reporting and evaluation for a Canadian International Development Agency funded project in rural Western Kenyan. Elena has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University and received a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Guelph.
