Round Table: Changes to Refugee and Migration Politics in Canada

As part of the Bordering Practices in Migration and Refugee Protection Workshop at BSIA, the Round Table features a leading academic of Canadian refugee policy, and three practitioners from national refugee advocacy organizations. This round table explores the complexities and contradictions of Canada’s refugee system. The panelists will discuss the evolution of Canadian refugee policy, the private sponsorship program, security provisions in Canadian law, and Canada’s Safe Third Country Agreement with the United States.
