Irakli Japaridze was born in Armenia in 1983. After graduating from High School Irakli studied for his Engineering Diploma (he minored in Economics) at Yerevan University of Architecture and Construction. Irakli qualified as a Civil Engineer in 2005. After University he worked as an Engineer at the National Center of Technical Security. Irakli participated in developing safety manuals for industrial machinery (like construction cranes, elevators, etc.). Still being interested in Economics in 2008 he moved to Georgia, to study at the International School of Economics. He obtained his Master’s degree in 2010 and came to Canada to do his PhD studies at McGill University. Irakli’s main areas of interests are Macroeconomic and Demographic Economics. His PhD Thesis is entitled “Essays on Fertility Differentials, Relative Consumption Concerns and Income Inequality”. Starting from 2013 Irakli was assigned a Lecturing position at McGill University. He taught various Introductory and Intermediate level courses. Starting from September 2017 Dr. Japaridze will be a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Health Sciences of Wilfrid Laurier University.
