Joanne Weston began her career in the building supply industry in purchasing and finance. After spending some time at home raising her children, she started the second phase of her career in the education sector as a new teacher Support Officer with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board. With her husband’s layoff from Blackberry in 2012, Joanne’s family embarked on the always-challenging and never-boring journey of becoming a small business owner in Cambridge.
Never one to sit still, Joanne has taken on many volunteer leadership roles with a particular focus on bringing together the school, the home and the community to help students succeed. She is a founding member of the Parent Involvement Committee at the Waterloo District School Board, the community representative for the WRDSB Research Committee, and Council Chair at multiple schools. Her current passions are reducing the stigma associated with children’s mental health and the Nutrition for Learning breakfast program in schools.
