Applications now open for the 3rd Annual International Law Summer Institute

Applications are now being accepted to the 3rd Annual International Law Summer Institute, in partnership with the Centre for International Governance Innovation.

The program will be led by BSIA faculty member Dr. Neil Craik, Director and Associate Professor of Law in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development at the University of Waterloo, and a CIGI Senior Fellow; and Dr. Sara Seck, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at Western University and a CIGI Senior Fellow. 

The curriculum will cover foundational aspects of public international law, such as sources of international law, statehood and state jurisdiction, state responsibility, and compliance with international law. In addition, leading international lawyers and legal scholars have been invited as guest faculty and will present on specific areas of international legal practice and theory.

This Summer Institute will be offered to graduate students at no charge, as a way of providing an additional opportunity to engage and interact with experts in this field, and to delve deeper into the world of international law. Students who fulfill the requirements of the program will be given a certificate of completion.

The program will run for one week, from May 15-19, at the Balsillie School in Waterloo, ON. Travel stipends may be available, depending on needs.

Applications to attend the Institute are available below and are due on Friday, March 31 to Tiffany Bradley. Successful applicants will be notified by April 5, 2017.
