Dr. Herdem currently works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Adiyaman University in Turkiye. Dr. Herdem`s research activities are in the fields of “Energy,” “Conceptual Design of Next-Generation Energy Conversion Systems,” and “Smart Energy Networks.” He received his Master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur. During his graduate career, he focused on various energy conversion technologies, including coal gasification, fuel cells, and fuel reforming. He also worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo and the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Institute (WISE) under the co-supervision of Dr. Jatin Nathwani and Dr. John Wen. During his post-doctoral fellowship, he studied biomass gasification, clean hydrogen production methods, and smart energy infrastructure. He has worked with Dr. Jatin Nathwani and Dr. John Wen on projects regarding renewable-based large-scale hydrogen production and smart energy networks, which are financially supported by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and the National Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC). His current project goals are to design next-generation energy conversion systems using big data and novel energy conversion technologies. He has collaborated and networked with individuals from over 30 countries throughout his graduate education and career. This demonstrates his exceptional communication skills with people around the globe in various languages and his ability to adapt quickly to multicultural environments
