PhD in Global Governance

Nelson Graham is a PhD student in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs through Wilfrid Laurier University. His research focuses on the opportunities and barriers that immigrants, specifically entrepreneurs, face in small to medium sized Canadian cities. In addition, he is interested in how opportunities, integration, and retention experiences differ between immigrant entrepreneurs in the high and low skilled sectors.

Nelson completed his Master of Arts in geography at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and his Bachelor of Arts in geography at the University of British Columbia. Given his background in the discipline of geography, Nelson is increasingly interested in the role of multiscalar immigration policies and how such policies and streams impact newcomers’ access to integration and entrepreneurial services
